Wonderfull play However, the staging is very naked. Also they save plenty money on light : most of the play is very dark.

2:00:43 the note she sung was to deep! What a shame

It is cool, although I found it too frozen and dark in some parts!

Very symbolic production. If Wagner had directed Verdi, this is how he would have done it. Not much in the way of atmosphere. I doubt Verdi would have been overly impressed.

Many thanks for uploading this. I think the mise en scène would probably be better appreciated when it comes to you in the theatre. By the way, the orchestra is fabulous, with a clear, transparent sound, compliments to Maestro Muti for that. Complete performance in line with the Paris adaptation. The chorus that opens Act 4 is one of the best performances I heard of this. Respect for the singers, but above all for maestro Verdi!!

It's the first time I listen to Macbeth. I know Shakespeare's story, but the lack of subtitles and overall dark images didn't help. I love Bruson, and I could only understand his words when singing.I mostly listened to the music. It's beautiful, and what sad story, as power always corrupt people.

Bruson is wonderful. Why is Maria portraying Lady Macbeth with no poise - she acts more like the wife of dracula. She grits her teeth like she's ready to sink them into Macbeth's neck during the banquet. Strong woman, yes, but with some class and poise, please. Maybe she's showing her character as blood thirsty. Oh well, still a wonderful performance for all, even though Muti's tempi sometimes sound like he wants to be sure not to miss a train.......they're fast, but effective, at least for me.

It is very strange that a singer of the caliber (and young at that time) of Guleghina has a problem to sing a high C in pitch...The 3 ones I have heard here are low. But she manages to makes the D flat well!

A good listen, but completely unwatchable. Where is this? A modernistic department store? Is Lady Macbeth a complete maniac by the look of her? Good music ruined by a totally alien and unsympathetic set - as usual.

Great Guleghina! Perhaps the best Lady Macbeth then ever....really better than Callas in this role! She has bewitched me: she's really the Devil, just as Verdi wanted! Applause!
